It really hit me yesterday how long lasting our choices are. My choice to leave America will ripple out for generations. It's wild to think about. Kids born long after I am dead will be impacted by my choice.

I have reinvented my family to live in the Caribbean, adjusted to life in the biggest city on Earth, and now settled into the slow pace of European society. I don't claim to know what I am doing, but I know that it will have a lasting legacy.

What percentage of people do you think pay for the gym but don't go?

My husband and I are having a debate about gym memberships. One of us thinks the MAJORITY of paying members at a gym, such as 24 Hour Fitness, do not go even one time per month. The other person thinks the percentage of people who pay and actually go to the gym is higher.

Jefri Patricia just finished celebrating her 12th

Jefri Patricia just finished celebrating her 12th birthday. We ate shabu shabu with family from America visiting us in Tokyo.

She continues to surprise us with perfect scores in Japanese and Science. Her soccer team won #1 in the league championship and she's learned to cook several delicious meals.

This year she visited Portugal, the Philippines, spent a month in Dominican Republic, traveled around Japan, and saw family in America (NYC, San Diego, and PNW). This is her 5th birthday abroad. ✈️

People ask me all the time, why we chose Dominican Republic. At the time we moved there were very few countries allowing Americans in. DR had a low threshold for entry, which meant we could arrive without any additional paperwork.

We consider ourselves soooo lucky that DR happened to show up on a suggested YouTube video. It was the perfect place at the perfect time for our family.
